"Funky Monkey = Great Catering!" by Jacquelynne

September 23, 2009 - Likes it - I have enjoyed Funky Monkey's incredible food on a number of occasions, and have always been extremely pleased! I would especially recommend Funky Monkey for catering. Eddie and his incredible staff catered an event for well over 300 people for our group, and they did an incredible job. People raved over the quality and quantity of the gourmet menu the Funky Monkey chefs prepared. The bar service was wonderful, as drinks were served quickly and efficiently, avoiding the bar back-up that so frequently happens with groups of this size. But with Funky Monkey's professional service and attention to detail, everyone had as much food and drink as they pleased, with ease. We especially enjoyed the beef sliders and ahi tuna appetizers that were served! It is one thing to prepare incredible food for restaurant parties; it is another thing to take a gourmet menu to a grand scale and dazzle the tastebuds of more than 300 people! I strongly recommend Funky Monkey to anyone who is looking for a memorable dinner or for a caterer for events, large and small.

Eddie,

I knew from the moment I walked into the Funky Monkey that our wedding reception would be a wonderful experience, it really was!  Eddie, you are so welcoming, we knew you were on top of your game.  The reception not only lived up to our expectations, but exceeded them.  Thanks again for the great food, the warm atmosphere, and the talent of your chef.  Please pass along our gratitude on to your entire staff...

Also, I thought you guys would maybe want a copy of the review from our photographer.  Also, I attached a few shots from him "pre-reception".  I'll send some photos from the reception as soon as we get those back...should be in the next couple of weeks or so.

Thank you again,

Christina & John

The theme to this wedding was "Vintage" & fun.

This couple was fun and not concerned with the "traditional" wedding plans. Infact there was no limo to whisk them away, but instead they rode away on John`s "vintage" looking vespa.... How FUN!!!!.

Anyway,On what was a beautiful Saturday and made for a wedding which was held at the Maitland Art Center. With about 45-50 guests, some of which came as far away as Germany to be a part of this and to see Christina and John exchange vows. John, was looking very cool in is pinstriped vintage look. As a matter of fact I think the dress Christina wore was a true vintage dress from the 1940`s. As many of the images will show there was a lot of tears from not only Christina & John, but many of the guests as well. It was not my ordinary "venue" style that is typically held at big, hotels or ceremony halls. The small and intimate setting is outdoors with lots of trees and spanish moss dripping from every branch. We were able to take images at several different locations all within the area. By the the way several of the images were taken of them at speeds of @45mph. Chris my assistant was driving while I hung out the passenger window to get these. ((I Love my job)) even if it means risking my life. If you have never been nor seen the Maitland Art Center you should.

One last note, the reception: Held at the "Funky Monkey wine company" & restaurant in Orlando. This too is a small and very stylish place, from american to sushi, from beer to many types of wines. I was very impressed with not only the ambiance but how good the food was. Thanks for making me feel so comfortable around all your friends and family.

You guys are AWESOME!

Best wishes,

Scott

Hello Ashley,

I had the pleasure of attending the Marriott Hotel Sales Specialist Reception at your location on International Drive.  Although I have visited your Mills Ave. location (and Bananas), this was my first visit to the I-Drive location.  I was very impressed to say the least!  I’ve been to many of these functions and the Funky Monkey Wine Company did a phenomenal job!  That was not only my opinion but that of others in attendance.  On the Marriott survey that was sent out after this event, I indicated there was not one improvement that could have been made to make this better.  I not only marked “excellent” in all categories but truly felt you deserve high marks for this event.  I would also like to say “thank you” to two of your staff members who I feel went out of their way to make this even more enjoyable.  Zach and Anoop were really very professional and very friendly!  Please pass along my appreciation to both of them and the rest of your staff as well.

Best Regards,

Gordon

Come On Evreybody Get Up and Get Kicken’

By Meagan

No no. It wasn’t the Funky Chicken but it WAS the Funky Monkey Wine Co. And it was super!! We didn’t leave for dinner until nearly 10. It was quite difficult to find a place to feed us that late on a Thursday :/ We really wanted something that we couldn’t get at home. We found a Bahama Breeze. We found a Magiano’s. We found a Denny’s… Then, out of the corner of our eye, we caught the word SUSHI. Hrm. Close to the ocean. Why not? We were just wearing jeans and when we walked up to the door we could see black table clothes, candles and lots of sparkling glasses. We risked it!! It was a great risk!!!! They let us in and we had an awesome dinner!! We started with some seared ahi tuna. It was good. But I don’t know if it was my favorite of all time But then we had a fried goat cheese that we spread on some croutons and topped with a sundried tomato jam. OMG. YES OMG!!! it was that good. Our waitress recommended it and I was thankful!!! I had a Riesling with the appetizers that I let the waitress choose as well. Then we picked a sake to have with our sushi. I had never had sake before. It was really potent. It tasted much lighter than water. I felt like I got the full flavor after I swallowed. The first little glass was rough. But I did notice the more I drank the less I could feel my face errr, I mean, the more I could appreciate the flavor and not be so overwhelmed with the alcohol content. We had the waitress also choose her three favorite rolls for us. They were so delicious!! We had a great time and I am so excited we decided to risk it and just walk in to a new place! Thank you Matt and Laura for keeping an eye on the girls! Jamey and I loved our time together!!

"Funky Monkey was a real find. It's a spot known by locals, but sought out as place to bring out of towners. Small and cozy, romantic, best for two or four, not large groups. The food was excellent, fresh, with artsy presentations. The wine selections covered all tastes and price levels. The servers were friendly, knowlegable, and attentive. Courses were not rushed. The chef made on the spot recipe modifications for a gluten free meal (but calling ahead would be appreciated.)"

"Funky Monkey was fantastic! Their salads are fantastic. I had the duck for my entree, and it was very tender and had a wonderful flavor. My husband had sushi and thought it was great. We look forward to our next trip there."

"It was the perfect romantic ambiance. An ideal find. She loved it, but so did I.

Looking forward to returning and sampling the other items on their menu. It's so good, I would love to keep it as a secret."

"Dinners continue to be outstanding here. A varied menu along with daily specials provide an abundance of choices. Service is attentive but unrushed. Servers are knowledgeable in both the food menu and wine offerings and are able to make suggestions if asked. I will continue to patronize this great little place in the heart of the vimi district."
